Over the past six weeks we have been very fortunate to have in our classroom a University Prac student. Miss Nuttall has assisted with all lessons and has been a huge help within the classroom. 
Thankyou Miss Nuttall for all your help and knowledge over the past six weeks and everyone in Room 12 wishes you all the best for the remainder of your studies at Edith Cowan University.  We know you will be a great teacher and any class will be fortunate to have you as their teacher. 

SUPER SCIENTIST PROJECT

 

AIM: To promote interest in Science and develop Scientific understandings, with an oral language focus.

WHAT IS IT? A competition from Yr 1—6, where all students give a 2—5 minute science based presentation. This presentation needs to take the form of an information report of a science concept or idea.  We are looking for the students to be able to explain the scientific nature of the report they choose to do to their audience in an enthusiastic, detailed manner.   

Students may wish to do a report on an animal, a plant, photosynthesis, the heart, a tornado or tsunami or whatever takes their fancy.  The Super Scientist presentations will need to be completed by Week 4 as that is when class presentations will take place.  We are all looking forward to seeing the amazing presentations and learning a great deal  in the coming weeks. Go for gold!

MOTIVATIONAL WORK

All motivational work is set every Monday and needs to be completed by the following Monday, ready for marking. 

Please print the English and Mathematics tasks, glue each page into your Motivational Workbook and complete. 

Your Motivational Workbook needs to come to school everyday, and go home with you every night. 

Don't forget to read every night and get your Mum, Dad, Nan or Pop to sign your home reader page. 

Here is a run-down of what you need to complete each week:

1. Spelling words - 20/night (parent test or look, say, cover, write, check L.S.C.W.C.)

3. English task - Full sentence answers to be written in your workbook, not on the activity page.

Resilience- Organisation (self-discipline)

During Weeks 6 to 10, our whole school Overarching Value has been Resilience. The Sub-Value has been Organisation (self-discipline).

It is important that all students are organised each day, 

as this enables students to start their day in a calm way. 

Students can achieve this through self-discipline.

Diaries are used within Wattle Grove Primary, they are a useful tool to assist students to be organised and aware of what is coming up for each week. Try to assist your child to use their diary on a regular basis.

Principal's Challenge

TERM 2

You will be tested on times tables, mixed operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division sums) and spelling (homophones, contractions and challenge words). There will be 10 General Knowledge questions comprised of Australian geography, national facts and Space.

Principal's Challenge - Term 2 

W.A. Day

To celebrate W.A. Day, we designed and coloured postcards of a town of Western Australia. We had a fabulous time celebrating W.A. Day with our 'buddy' class. Room 6 students visited us and we gave our buddies the postcard we made. We discussed the towns we selected and spoke about our experience while visiting the many towns our class had chosen. We later traded our postcards with the postcards Room 6 had designed and made for us.
